DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN CURRICULUM STUDIES
Introducuction
This programme in theory and practice is based on cognitive and related views, problem solving and learning and the implications of these on language education for instruction, research and practice. The programme, therefore, takes cognizance of language theory and practice in the present and its future developments in Kenya and the world.
Objectives
1. Provide students with knowledge of the philosophy of language education and its application to solve human problems.
2. Prepare students to become experts in language education who can serve as curriculum developers for various levels of training in the area of applied linguistics.
3. Train personnel and researchers who can undertake educational research projects for educational institutions, and business enterprises.
4. Prepare policy formulators, analysts and advocates for language education.
